Michael Newton

Michael’s life has been full of challenges that he’s continuously overcome for the better. One of those being diagnosed with HIV in his 20s.

Michael grew up the second child of five, in a domestic abuse household that saw he himself hospitalised at the age of 5. After this, Michael had to dig deep and found himself working to support himself and his family from the age of only 13.

Michael joins TLC Lions not only to breakdown the stigma associated with HIV but importantly to contrast the leaders who’ve helped him along the way. As a gay man in the corporate world, Michael brings a number of stories to life, focusses on the leaders that helped him thrive during the difficult times and leaves the audience questioning their own leadership style.

Michael works for event technology company Cvent and has experienced first-hand some of the shifts that need to happen around the diversity and inclusion agenda in the corporate work. He is also the Chief Operating Officer for the LGBT+ parenting charity, The P3 Network.

With humour, character and care at his core, Michael’s session brings leadership to life in a new and unique way.
